The Powder MacKenna Wars
The Beast In The Woods
Follow the life of young Powder MacKenna as he sheds the shackles of dirt
farming in Tennessee and joins the Marine Corps as the United States becomes involved
in the Great War to End All Wars. Powder’s war parallels that of Allison Wesley Drake
Williamson, who rejects his life of privilege in Philadelphia, falsifies his age and name,
joins the Marine Corps and finds himself embroiled in the carnage and horrors of war.
The European war concluded, MacKenna requests a transfer to the China Marines
but must get there via Siberia where he finds himself embroiled in a Russian Civil War
and crossing Siberia on a train commanded by the Czechoslovakian Legion and filled
with the Tsar's fortune of gold. As a China Marine he finds himself involved with both
the Army and Navy Intelligence departments butting heads with Warlords and criminal
tongs throughout China.

Naval Aviation Pilot
This is a retrospective of the Naval Aviation Pilot program that began in 1918. Dialed back at the conclusion of WWI. the program was re-instituted in 1936 with the thought in mind that the country might soon be involved in a second World War. Young enlisted men of the United States Navy were trained exactly as the officer aviation cadre was being trained, and then designated as Naval Aviation Pilots rather than as Naval Aviators. The aircraft they flew, the training they received, and the war they eventually fought was exactly the same, as was their bravery, and competence, and record.
